Description
An account of the resource
The High Hat student newspaper
First-year run of “The High Hat” student newspaper and start of The Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. Newspaper format: 13 issues were published in a somewhat bi-weekly format, 12 are published in this archive. Copied to PDF format from microfilm. Original documents average 11½” x 15” in size, constructed of acid-based paper, black and white newspaper print.
This year-run represents the start of the college and newspaper indicating many new organizations and activities for the campus. Numerous advertisements indicate strong community support and revenue for the publication. News stories appear somewhat unorganized where space and word count are looked at as putting a puzzle together to create a visually cohesive newspaper.
