First-year run of “The Mace and Crown” student newspaper and last year of The Norfolk College of William and Mary name which was instituted in 1960. News-magazine format (saddle-stitch, stapled), which was implemented in 1959: 6 issues were published in a monthly format, all 6 are published in this archive. Copied to PDF format from microfilm. Original documents average 8½” x 11 5/16” in size, constructed semi-gloss paper and color print.
The year-run represents the news-magazine format and color print and last issue noting, “The End of an Era,” as The Norfolk College of William and Mary sees its last graduating class. Along with news stories, updates on campus activities such as fraternities and sororities are reported in detail. Advertising indicates cars, fashion, banking, and cigarettes.
